Lighting in the VR / LED Space

Lighting is a critical component of any production, whether it be a feature film, television show, commercial, live stream, or live event. Lighting can not only set the mood and tone but also help to drive the narrative forward. When it comes to virtual productions on LED stages, lighting is even more important due to the complexity of the environment. With this in mind, Brian Rupp has created a comprehensive course on creating the perfect lighting environment for an LED wall.

The course starts with basics such as stands, sandbags, grip, and electric equipment. It then delves deeper into understanding all that goes into producing quality content when it comes to lighting. Students will learn about how different types of lights are used for different purposes in order to create the desired effects. They will also gain insight into how light color and temperature affect an image or scene. Additionally, students will receive hands-on experience in controlling and manipulating light sources in order to achieve the desired look or feel for their projects.

The course also covers topics such as rigging techniques for LED walls and other similar environments, as well as various factors that need to be taken into account when setting up lights. Students will learn about topics such as beam spread angles, distance considerations and power calculations so they can make sure their lighting design is efficient and effective before putting it into action on set.

Finally, they’ll explore advanced topics like programming consoles and utilizing pre-built templates in order to quickly create looks without having to manually adjust each light every time they need a certain effect or look. By the end of the course, the Mentees should have gained a thorough understanding of what it takes to produce quality content using LED walls and other related technologies.
